The Berkman Center for Internet and Society here at Harvard just published a paper in conjunction with UNICEF that may be of interest to librarians everywhere. The title of the paper is, Working Towards a Deeper Understanding of Digital Safety for Children and Young People in Developing Nations, and it was authored by Urs Gasser, Colin Maclay, and John Palfrey.
These folks are in the vanguard of researching use of digital media by children and youths, and what they’re learning from this research may inform how librarians structure and design online learning tools aimed at younger patrons. Take a look – you can download the PDF from the link above.
