Alexander Street Press has just rolled out mobile access to all eleven of their streaming music collections. This means you can now access the hundreds of thousands of recordings in Alexander Street’s streaming music collections right from your smart phone—or any mobile device with an internet connection (iPad too!) And they’ve made it easy to do: you just click on the mobile phone symbol that appears next to every recording and playlist. That gives you the option either to send the link to your mobile, or— very nice!—click a QR code and go straight in! Try it with the code shown above.
Android phones come with QR readers pre-loaded, and if you’re on an iPhone, it’s easy to pick up a free or cheap QR reader in the app store. The playlist Alexander Street is making free to e-Views readers, good through August 15th, is from their online collection, American Song, and it’s called “Songs of Outlaws and Martyrs.” There are songs here from Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and Charles Brown—songs about civil rights workers, the assassination of JFK, the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, Harriet Tubman, and Marilyn Monroe, among others.
If you don’t have a smart phone or a QR reader, to access this terrific playlist for free on your computer instead, use the following URL and login codes for online access:
Go to: http://amso.alexanderstreet.com/Playlists/265510
and login with:
Username: outlaws
Password: eviews
My source at Alexander Street says that they’re making their video collections mobile-accessible next—so stay tuned for a QR video code, soon!
Enjoy the free music, and more as it happens,
Cheryl
