In anticipation of the difficult anniversary of 9/11 that lies ahead, and to help prepare libraries for the onslaught of reference questions the date may precipitate, ebrary has developed this open access collection of e-books related to the events of that day.
Libraries are welcome to include the link on their homepages and assist any patrons with Internet access to download and read any of the 15 full-text e-books at that link throughout September. Included in this free e-collection are:
Reclaiming the Sky: 9/11 and The Untold Story of the Men and Women Who Kept America Flying by Tom Murphy, Shock of the News: Media Coverage and the Making of 9/11 by Brian Monahan, Tower Stories: An Oral History of 9/11, by Damon DiMarco and Thomas Kean, and We Are All Suspects Now: Untold Stories from Immigrant America After 9/11, by Tram Nguyen. The site is fully-functional and provides access to all of ebrary’s research tools for free.
I won’t say “enjoy” the free collection, but this does sound like a very good resource for reference librarians to be able to turn to with our patrons. Thank you, ebrary.
More as it happens (but may a 9/11 never happen again),
Cheryl
